The Communication Officer provides communication and marketing expertise to enhance the visibility and reputation of LIH across a wide range of international/local scientific and non-scientific audiences. S/he has responsibility for performing public outreach activities to generate visibility, raise awareness, build the brand reputation and promote the goals and activities of the institute.  S/he is also responsible for internal communication activities.

Key Accountabilities
  • Oversee the internal communication programme, manage and promote usage of the intranet, produce contents and organise social events to reinforce the corporate culture and federate staff around the LIH brand
  • Develop and implement public outreach campaigns and events to educate, inform and engage key stakeholders, donors and communities
  • Contribute to the editorial programme in collaboration with the team to leverage milestones and achievements, and increase awareness of LIH’s activities
  • Help define content strategies: identify topics of interest, reach out to stakeholders and write internal/external contents (blog articles, press releases, news, newsletters, video scripts, promotional contents, etc. )
  • Support scientists with the recruitment of participants in research studies and cohorts by developing and implementing communication plans
  • Act as a press contact and support the press office outreach programme.
  • Contribute to the development of LIH’s marketing & communication strategy.

KEY SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s Degree in communication, journalism or marketing with demonstrated experience ideally in a  medical/scientific context or Bachelor’s Degree in Life Sciences with knowledge of medical/scientific journalism and communication.
  • At least two years of communication and copywriting experience, ideally within a medical/research institution, a communication agency or a medical/scientific medium.
  • Creative thinker: one who thinks “outside of the box“, by formulating exciting, interesting and above all, persuasive ways of presenting information to an audience.
  • Story-telling expertise and ability to take complex, scientific information and explain it in a clear, articulate and easy to understand format.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Autonomous, adaptable and flexible individual.
  • Fluent in English and German with excellent oral and copywriting skills. Good knowledge of French and Luxembourgish would be an asset.
